ART: PRINTS
I have worked in a variety of print media since studying with Gabor Peterdi at Yale in the 1960's. Besides hand litho, silk screen and intaglio, I also worked with large offset presses to create manually-separated original prints. Many of the posters I made for clients in the 1980's were executed in this fashion, in keeping with the late 19th-century craft tradition of using industrial process for art purposes. I color-separated in my head, executing hand-painted or drawn mylars, which were then burned to positive-reading offset litho plates. We would then ink up the press with custom colors and proof and complete the work on press. |
